Our skin cancer program is one of the extensive program in the surfcoast, providing the most advanced medical and surgical care for the patients at high risk of nonmelanoma skin cancer.
Cutaneous malignant melanoma is the fastest growing and the most aggressive form of skin cancer that is diagnosed. However, its incidence is relatively scarce compared to the highest mortality rate of all skin cancers.The much more common skin cancers include nonmelanoma malignant skin cancers. Moreover, over the past several decades, the frequency of all skin cancers has increased much more dynamically than that of almost any other type of cancer.
Risk Factors
Our GPs diagnose, treat and manages skin conditions and skin cancer. They perform minor surgery, cryotherapy and prescribe topical treatments.
Screening Recomendations
Skin cancer screening is generally recommended for people at increased risk for developing skin cancer.
GP Investigations
Not everyone with risk factors develops skin cancer. However, if you do have one or more risk factors, discuss them with your GP and get regular skin cancer screenings.

Skin Cancer Checks
A skin cancer check is a detailed examination of your skin by our medical professionals. It involves carefully assessing your skin’s condition and identifying any unusual moles, growths, or lesions that might indicate the presence of skin cancer.
Biopsy
A skin biopsy is the removal of a sample of skin. It is usually undertaken using a local anaesthetic injection into the skin to numb the area. The injection stings transiently. After the procedure, a suture or dressing may be applied.
Excisions
The removal of tissue from the body using a scalpel (a sharp knife), laser, or other cutting tool. A surgical excision is usually done to remove a lump or other suspicious growth.
Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is a treatment where your healthcare provider applies extreme cold to freeze and destroy abnormal tissue. To create this severe cold, your provider will use a substance like liquid nitrogen or argon gas.
